Assistant Director

Location: Houston, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities:

Program Delivery:

· Stay up-to-date with the company’s program offerings and ensure the school operates with current curriculum and program expectations.

· Conduct regular observations in classrooms and provide feedback to teachers on program delivery.

· Ensure that classrooms are arranged according to children’s developmental needs, TRS standards, and licensing requirements.

· Facilitate child assessments regularly and ensure that parent-teacher conferences and assessment reports are provided twice a year.

Staff Management & Development:

· Supervise, train, and develop teaching staff for the Early Preschool through School Age classrooms.

· Assist with the selection, training, coaching, and development of new staff, including performance management and corrective action as needed.

· Actively engage in staff meetings, training sessions, and open houses.

· Monitor classroom environments to ensure teachers are actively engaged with children and providing developmentally appropriate activities.

Operations & Administrative Support:

· Assist the Director with managing administrative duties, including maintaining staff and child files, preparing reports, and conducting parent tours.

· Manage daily operations in compliance with state and local regulations, ensuring timely reporting of incidents, accidents, and other required documentation.

· Ensure classrooms are always tour-ready and help convert prospective families during tours.

Community Engagement & Marketing:

· Assist with social media engagement and marketing materials to showcase the school’s values and offerings.

· Coordinate parent and community communications, helping with outreach and referral programs.

Other Duties:

· May be required to step into the teacher role when needed, such as to give breaks or support classroom activities (up to 25% of time).

· Ensure the school maintains accreditation status and assist with preparations for any inspections.

Qualifications & Requirements ✅

Required

· Minimum of a High School Diploma.

· At least two (2) years of experience in an early childhood program, with at least two (2) years as a lead teacher.

· Knowledge of state and local regulations related to early childhood education.

· Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

· Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

· CDA (Child Development Associate) credential.

· One (1) year of management experience.

About the Role

This is not your typical assistant role.

You will serve as the right hand to a multi-center childcare business owner, supporting both business operations and personal execution. This role is for someone who can anticipate needs, stay organized, and execute at a high level without constant direction.

You are the bridge between vision and execution, ensuring nothing falls through the cracks across multiple locations, priorities, and projects.

Executive & Administrative Support

· Manage calendars, appointments, meetings, tours, and events across multiple locations

· Draft, organize, and respond to emails and professional communications

· Prepare agendas, meeting notes, and follow-up action items

· Coordinate travel arrangements, itineraries, and logistics

· Maintain organized filing systems (digital and physical)

· Handle time-sensitive tasks with urgency and discretion

Operations & Project Management
